My Race For Fitness

I finished my first 10 mile run. Yeah!!

On my weight-loss/fitness journey, I have found that setting attainable goals have gotten me slowly to my own finish line. Recently the race bug has been on me and I have completed two in the last two months. These races have definitely forced me to adjust the way I workout and prepare for the next running event.

At first, let me tell you, I was VERY hesitant about putting myself out there and signing up for a race. I focused on other people who could potentially race against me. In my mind, I thought their fitness level was higher than mine and I wouldn't stand a chance. My husband convinced me otherwise. He said, "Keshia, you can do it, you've been running alot!". LOL. He is my #1 Fan! I love you babe!

Honey! Let me tell you. I am so glad I got over that, thanks to my loving Husband. When you show up to a race, you have so many people waiting to run. All of these people are at different fitness levels. Most of all, you have some people who actually walk the route. They tend to stick to the 2 mile and 5K runs for the sake of time. Never the less, they are there reaching their own fitness finish line.

I didn't finish first when they tallied the times but I finished first with my own goals. This has been extremely self-rewarding and I am just getting started.

Get out there! Set yourself a goal, stick to it, and you won't be disappointed.

Festivities with Style

This weekend I had the opportunity of seeing Gladys Knight, without the Pips. :-) The concert was an outdoor fest so I wanted my look to remain comfortable and chic at the same time. The outfit started with a skirt I made. All details to making this skirt are listed below.
I paired the skirt with a bandeau top (Wal-Mart) and my accessories included a statement necklace (E-bay), leather belt (thrifted), black and gold sandals (Target), cross-over bag (Garage sale), and shades (Hot Topics).

You will need 1 yard of fabric, an elastic band, and a sewing machine (This project can also be sewn by hand)
Fabric for the skirt was purchased at girlcharlee.com. The website has a large selection of fabric to select from for any type of Do-it-Yourself (DIY) sewing project.

Meshalo Fashions is a great forum for DIY sewing projects and ideas. Check her out on YouTube for tutorials   ....you won't be disappointed.
People were everywhere having a great time listening to music and watching the sunset.
My beautiful kids took a moment to give mommy some love.
My handsome husband and beautiful kids striking a pose.
We had such an amazing time hanging, listening to music and enjoying some good food. Life is an amazing thing and I am so blessed to have an AMAZING family to enjoy it with. Regardless of what the occasion may be, remember to embrace your own style and stay beautiful!!

All Wrapped Up

How many times have you had to run to complete errands but your hair needed some TLC. Well, my look today is wrapped around the head wrap on my head. During my leap across town to take care of my to-do list, my hair was being deep conditioned under a plastic shower cap and insulated with the wrap on my head.

The rest of the outfit was a fabulous find from Wal-Mart…the only store in my small little town. These cute little floral shorts were a keeper when I saw them on the rack for $11. I love them!!! They will receive a lot of attention before the seasons change.

No matter what the situation is, never allow your style to be compromised.

Stay Beautiful!!
